An SMS on the early morning of a day in March got me thinking.
Perhaps this is my chance.
After one month of the arrival of my car, I realized that my monthly spending is more than my monthly income.
That's when I decided to take a part-time job to cover my expenses.
It's an SMS from Sally, my primary school classmate.
She introduce me to a part-time job in a Korean Restaurant in Likas area.
The owner of the shop happens to be looking for partimers at night.
I went to meet the boss and he gladly accepted me in replacement for Sally.
Turns out that Sally is resigning as her mum would not want her to work part-time at night outside the shop.
I was kinda excited as I've always love korean stuff and not to mention, the food is simply 맛있는 (mas-issneun).
*mas-issneun = yummy
Likas Golf Driving Range Korean BBQ Restaurant
So, I started to work on 05/03/12.
There, I met Ija, Ros and Salna. There is this tall guy named John too but so sad that he only worked for 2 days.
I even brought my form 6 classmate, Helmey to interview as she told me she wanted to look for a part-time job as well.
But unfortunately, the boss do not need anymore employees for the time being.
This is the menu of the shop, we only have 2 menus in the shop. Imagine what happen when all of a sudden there are customers for 4 or 5 tables at the same time. LOL.
The shop is separated into two sections.
Inside >> Non-smoking area.

Outside >> Smoking area.
If you are seated outside at the smoking area, you can clearly see the green green grass of the golf range.
With the dimmed light, the atmosphere was kinda romantic.
This is the counter where all the plates and glasses were placed at.
And also the 반찬 (ban-chan).
*ban-chan = side dish
I like the counter alot because I always eat ban-chan here. LOL.
Kimchi is S.U.P.E.R.L.O.V.E
The ever busy kitchen.
Ija is the one who always cook for our dinner everyday. LOL.
Salna and The Chef.
The Chef is very good to us.
I think he treat us all as his daughters and son.
When there's no customers, he would sit down and chat with us.
Although we cannot really understand what he was talking about. LOL.
We had to use hand signal to communicate.
But after days gone by, we actually start to get his talking.
He always talk about his life before coming to Malaysia.
and his family back in Korea.
His son who has married, not sure if he has a grandson or grandaughter though.
The boss, after the first few days,
I realized he is someone who follows the mood.
When he is in good mood, he actually treat us all good korean food plus soju.
When he is not, he will scold us and pin-pointed out on every single wrong thing we are doing.
One thing I don't like about him is he loves to drink alcohol.
He even asked all of us to sit and drink together with him.
and he tends to get inconsiderate once he drank too much.
I wondered why he never gets drunk.
One thing that I like about him is he knows how to talk and negotiate.
There was one night that we had only one table of two customers,
he actually sits with me and we had a couple glasses of beer.
He taught me how to serve the customers, how to make the customers happy, the food and the menu, what to introduce to the customers, and some details of the shops and business.
Then he started to pour out all his life stories.
His love life was a heart breaking one.
I saw tears in his eyes, I dunno was it the effect of the alcohol or was it the pain he is feeling inside.
My eyes actually tear up because I know exactly how it felt like for someone you have given all your love and everything to, betraying you at your back in return.
Some korean utensils The Chef gave us during the cleaning of the kitchen. LOL.
The boss actually had an idea to re-open the steamboat section downstairs.
We got busy for a few days, serving a whole loads of customers and rearranging our utensils plus getting ready for the shop downstairs at the same time.
I was super exhausted during the first few days.
Not mentioning that I still have to work full-time in the morning.
Having to work more than 12 hours per day, and sleeping only 5 hours per night.
I always ended up taking a nap in the office during lunch hour everyday.
This is just simply torturing myself.
Now I know how it felt like to have 2 jobs per day like those in the dramas.
How can people actually live like this.
But I had to do it for the extra income.
Luckily, it was at a place that I quite enjoy.
So I am kinda relax and enjoy what I am doing there.
Afterall, I am a korean freak. LOL.
